FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I place an order?
You can place an order by browsing our products and clicking 'Add to Cart', then proceeding to checkout.
How can I contact customer support?
You can reach us through our contact form, email us directly or call us.
Do you sell personalised registrations?
The Plate Wizard only sells replacement number plates. To purchase number plates on our site you must have permission from the person that owns the registration. To ensure number plates are only purchased by those that own the registration, and to comply with DVLA registered number plate supplier rules, when purchasing your number plate we request proof of ownership and identification documents for all our road legal plate range.
How long will it take for me to receive my number plates?
All orders placed before 14:00 will be made same day Monday to Friday and will be dispatched the same day. Orders after this time will not be dispatched until the following day. Orders submitted on Saturday or Sunday will not be dispatched until the following Monday.
The Plate Wizard posts all orders by Royal Mail Tracked 48 & 24 Options: please allow up to 2-3 working days for delivery.
Please note The Plate Wizard has no control over orders once they are sent out and any delays are solely the responsibility of the courier. If your order is delayed we will do our best to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
Are you registered with the DVLA to make replacement number plates?
The Plate Wizard is a registered number plate supplier and adhere to DVLA rules and guidelines for selling number plates.
Do you offer discount for regular, trade or bulk orders?
Yes, we offer trade discounts and bulk order pricing for businesses and dealerships. If you're ordering multiple number plates or require regular supply, contact our sales team at sales@theplatewizard.co.uk for a custom quote tailored to your needs.
How do i cancel an order?
As we print orders as soon as they're placed, in some cases it may not be possible to issue a refund as the number plates have already been made. If you would like to cancel your order please contact us as soon as possible (within the hour). In the event that the new number plates have not been created we will issue a refund.
Do your number plates include your legal details? Are your number plates road legal?
All of our road legal number plates feature the required legal markings. This means that the text "THE PLATE WIZARD BT20 4JB" will be shown on the bottom centre of the plate and "BSAU 145e" will be shown on the bottom right of the plate. This text allows the relevant authorities to find out which company produced the number plates if required. Show plates will be blank and not include these details.
Do you require documentation?
As a DVLA registered number plate supplier, we have to request documents that prove your identity and that you can use the registration number. We understand this is a slight inconvenience, but do our best to ensure sending documents to us is made as simple as possible. Be aware of other suppliers that do not request these documents, as it may suggest the replacement number plates they are producing are not road legal.
When sending in documents we require one of each of the following:
To confirm your identity
- driving licence
- utility, Council Tax or rates bill from the last 6 months
- bank or building society statement from the last 6 months
- national identity card
To confirm you can use the registration
- vehicle registration certificate (V5C or V5CNI)
- new keeper supplement (V5C/2 or V5C/2NI)
- of entitlement (V750 or V750NI) to the number
- retention document (V778) - not applicable in Northern Ireland
- a renewal reminder for vehicle tax or SORN (V11 or V11NI)
- temporary registration certificate (V379 or V379NI)
- a number plate authorisation certificate (V948) with an official stamp from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) or Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)
- an electronic number plate authorisation certificate (eV948)
- a letter of authorisation from a fleet operator (including lease or hire company) quoting the document reference number from the registration certificate
Are your number plates legal for UK road use?
Yes, our Standard, 3D Gel, and 4D plates are fully legal and comply with UK DVLA standards.
Please note that our Show, Novelty & Metro Style Plates are intended for show use only and are not legal for road use.
